Development and set-up of a public programme portal: “Capacity Building for Social- and Environmentally Compatible Communal- and Urban Development in Central America”

Commissioned by InWEnt, since 2001 KATE has successfully carried out the “Local Agenda and Communal Environmental Management” education module in the “Diplomado Regional” of the Instituto Centroamericano de Administración Pública” (ICAP) and subsequently accompanied the programme alumni in “blended learning” courses and an exchange forum in “Global Campus 21” in the Internet. The content transfer of these modules and establishment in the ICAP school portfolio took place at the beginning of 2008 so that continuation and distribution could be guaranteed on the spot.

The focus of cooperation this year was the set-up of a public portal: “Capacity Building for Social- and Environmentally Compatible Communal- and Urban Development in Central America”. This portal offers communes in Central America an overview of the ICAP further-education offer in the sphere of environmental- and communal development and the possibility to come into contact together. Publication is planned for May 2009. Thus an almost a decade of cooperation between KATE and InWEnt is ended in which about 150 environmental managers were trained in Central America.
